Home to civil rights pioneers such as Martin Luther King Jr., Atlanta was front and center in the stage of the movement. Dr. King worked with important figures such as Ralph Abernathy to help bring light to many of the issues crippling the South, such as Atlanta’s severe segregation issues. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference comes to Atlanta as a part of this movement as well, bringing with it a wave of new ideas and powerful, yet peaceful push for a change in attitudes.
