Jamestown Buys Sears Building

In the early 90s, the City of Atlanta purchased the Sears, Roebuck & Co. building on Ponce de Leon Avenue for a rather small price of twelve million dollars. The building was nearly empty until 2010, when Atlanta permitted property buyer Jamestown ‘zoning tweaks’ to adjust how the building was to be used by retailers. Jamestown overhauled the structure to gain the title of Atlanta’s largest urban reclamation project for a whopping total of three hundred million dollars until it was finally opened in 2014 to wreak havoc on Old Fourth Ward
